Biography

Rick Jelinek most recently served as Executive Vice President of Enterprise Modernization and Integration for CVS Health, where he led the company’s integration with Aetna and company-wide business process transformation acceleration. Previously, Mr. Jelinek held various senior roles at Aetna, including Executive Vice President of Enterprise Strategy, Head of Markets and member of the Executive Leadership Team, the senior governing body of the company. Prior to Aetna, he was at UnitedHealth for 19 years, serving in a variety of executive leadership roles, including CEO of OptumHealth.

Rick is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and a founding advisory board member for the Griffith Leadership Center at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He currently is a Board member of HealthEdge and previously served on the Boards of Redbrick Health, Sutter Health, the Minnesota Children’s Museum and Cotiviti. He holds a master’s degree in Health Services Administration and an MBA from the University of Michigan, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Rick is a first-generation American from Czech descent.

Rick grew up playing drums and was in a rock band. His first paid gig was from a local realtor who paid the band not to practice during her open house.

Rick is a lifelong hockey fan and still plays (or tries to) regularly in a men’s league in CT.
